Latest Twilight Zone sold and shipped to California, July 2007

Let's follow a mighty Twilight Zone pinball machine moving along through the refurbishing process...

The initial condition of the machine - no parts missing, but some are worn. general condition - very dirty and needs a good scrub and a tune up.

Game card holder (apron) removed revealing more dirt.

Crappy, old style (Bally in the 1980s style) shooter installed. The complete assembly will be replaced.

Crappy, incompatible flipper buttons installed, both will be replaced.

Apron taken out of the game for cleaning.

Game translite (backbox artwork) taken off for cleaning.

Cabinet right, lower side. It's in great original, unmolested condition.

Cabinet right, backbox side side. It's got some sticky tape stuff on it, will be scrubbed and removed.

Display and top game speakers area. Getting ready to be taken off and cleaned.

Powering up the game. The software version currently installed in the game is several generations behind (Version L-5). A new game software chip will be burned and installed with the latest and greatest software revision, same if sound software if needed.

Another angle, playfield very dusty and dirty.

I am shaking my head while looking at this picture too... Now, that's dirty!

All 3 op bumpers removed. Dirty area exposed underneath, one GREED target destroyed as well. All new pop bumper assemblies will be installed.

Slot machine scoop and (typical) banged up and busted slot machine target. Brand new scoop will be installed as well as brand new reinforced yellow standup target. Then, a brand new slot machine plastic will be installed on top of it all.

Gumball machine completely taken out of the game, area exposed, dirty and ready for cleaning.

Flipper area detail. Flippers will be completely rebuilt.

Coin door not optimal, but not terribly bad either, seen them MUCH worse. Will be repainted, clearcoted, and a brand new lock mechanism and a set of keys installed.

Left lower side of the cabinet. Excellent.

Top left backbox side of the cabinet.

Backbox inside... All of them... - every single light bulb there is missing! Vanished! Along with the whole thing being filthy, all the bulbs will be added and connectors for them rebuilt fresh, so it will last a lifetime.

Playfield completely stripped, parts ready for a "bath".

Rod Serling upper playfield area. It's dirty and the green Clock Millions target is busted (common).

Getting ready to perform a 545 to 455 modification for blinking light bulbs in the backbox (6 of them are installed).

Getting ready to upgrade and update the game software. The machine already has the latest available sound chips, so no upgrade is necessary.

Installation of backbox blinking bulbs is starting now...

All done, all blinking, easily replaceable if needed in the future, and wires neatly routed and stapled to the backbox.

Latest game software installed and the game booting up.

In the meantime... all playfield parts have been taken off, scrubbed, buffed, cleaned, washed, polished and spiffed, then reinstalled onto the playfield. We are ready to turn the game on now.

The game is going through diagnostics before going into the attract mode.
